Monday the 27th of January 2025, The bandstand surrounded by water, history and beauty. Taking a look at the Bandstand of Belper River Gardens, in Derbyshire.
Derbyshire as a county is home to an amazing and unique plethora of various landscapes, from gentle rolling hills to the more soothing and calming delights of fertile farmlands, curious sweeping valleys and of course the more dramatic and bleak moorlands that can be found in the more northern parts of the county. And yet the other thing Derbyshire is famed for is beautiful charming towns and villages, each with character and each with a certain sense of beauty, thus history - and on Monday the 27th of January 2025 I had found myself at Belper River Gardens, located in the town of Belper, a town with an industrial heritage that played a pivotal role in the Industrial Revolution. Yet as a town goes it is also located geographically in a unique part of Derbyshire, and that of course happens to be beside the banks of The River Derwent, more importantly the historic Lower Derwent Valley which is home to the UNESCO Derwent Valley Heritage Mills.
And whilst the River Gardens can be explored still, back in yesteryear they provided escapism for the neighbouring and towering Red Brick Mill that graces the skyline of Belper, now though that mill is an industrial ghost and is sadly abandoned. And yet whenever I visit Belper River Gardens, I always try to capture a photo of the beautiful Bandstand, and this time around I managed to take the drone above the Bandstand and got the following two photographs, yes the Winter elements not exactly helping things, but either way there was just something beautiful and calming about seeing this Bandstand from above, from a completely unique and different perspective all together.
